Several options exist for whitening teeth. However, the best way to whiten your teeth is through your dentist. Dentists have access to whitening gels with high concentrations that ensure quick, effective, and durable results. Although professional teeth whitening is more costly than store-bought whitening methods, it’s worth the investment.Â
Here are the reasons:
You may have heard that teeth whitening can damage the enamel. The truth? Professional teeth whitening is safe for natural teeth and does not cause damage. However, whitening agents may create complications if you have tooth decay or gum disease. That’s why we administer a thorough exam before your whitening session. Using your dentist is the safest, most effective method for teeth whitening.Â
Teeth whitening works perfectly on your teeth because they have micropores that absorb the gels. This allows stains to be lifted from within the tooth structure. However, veneers, crowns, and other dental restorations do not have these pores. This means whitening products cannot change their color.Â
If you have restorations, their shade will remain the same while your natural teeth whiten, which may create a mismatch. In such cases, we’ll discuss options, such as replacing restorations after whitening, to ensure a consistent, uniform appearance.
Compared to cosmetic dentistry procedures like veneers, teeth whitening is one of the most affordable solutions. Even then, you can opt for third-party financing with CareCredit to make your treatment even more affordable.
Many people hesitate to use teeth whitening because they worry the procedure will hurt. We customize your whitening experience, so you’ll experience minimal sensitivity during and after treatment. After your procedure, we’ll give you aftercare instructions to avoid lingering discomfort.Â
